Letter from the Editor: Thank You

Dear Readers,

What began as a small experiment has evolved into a publication dedicated to delivering thoughtful, balanced journalism to Southern California and beyond. In 2020, I launched Satire Script—a simple email newsletter sent to nine friends. It was a mix of COVID updates and quirky local stories, sustained by small ads from local businesses. From the very beginning, I was committed to ensuring that crucial information remained free and accessible.

As the newsletter grew, I moved to a free Wix site with its own domain and introduced a single ad within articles to support the project financially. By my second year, I expanded the team by bringing on a friend to help write articles and create ads. Together, we rebranded the newsletter as The Arias Journal, giving it a more personal identity and a stronger sense of value for our readers.

Our rebranding also came with a renewed focus on Southern California—a region rich with stories that deserve thoughtful coverage. Whether we’re reporting on San Bernardino, other local communities, or broader issues, our mission is to highlight what matters most to our readers in SoCal.

In late 2022, after my friend moved on, I transitioned the journal to Ghost.org and introduced Premium Insider, a way for readers to access exclusive content while keeping essential information free for everyone. This allowed us to phase out reliance on advertisers and maintain a more independent, central perspective—free from the influence of political extremes or special interests.

Today, The Arias Journal is driven by a team of three contributors and myself as editor-in-chief. Together, we are committed to offering a balanced, in-depth look at the stories shaping Southern California. Our goal is to inform, inspire, and engage, providing reliable reporting that fits seamlessly into your busy life.

Your support—whether as a loyal reader or a Premium Insider member—has made this possible. Thank you for trusting us to be your source for meaningful, independent journalism with a strong connection to Southern California.

Warm regards,
Jesus M. Arias
Editor-in-Chief, The Arias Journal
