A new approach to fighting cybercrime

During the RSA Conference in San Francisco, U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco discussed the Department of Justice's new approach to fighting cybercrime.

The approach prioritizes the prevention and disruption of cybercrime, in addition to traditional law enforcement tools to pursue bad actors.

According to Monaco, federal prosecutors have had to shift away from the mentality that every investigation will lead to prosecution.

Instead, the focus is on preventing future attacks and responding to victims' reports, putting the victims at the center. The success of these efforts is no longer measured by courtroom action or victories but by the prevention and disruption of cybercrime.
